Our Doctors

The practice is owned by our veterinarian, Dr. Carole Werkhoven. A Connecticut native, she graduated from Bolton High School, then obtained a bachelor's degree in Anima Science from the University of Connecticut.  Dr Werkhoven obtained her veterinary degree in 1996 from Cornell University, then practiced mixed animal (companion and farm animals) medicine locally before deciding to focus primarily on companion animals in a private practice setting.

Dr. Lisa Carlson-graduate of Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. Started working at our practice in May '06. She is an excellent doctor and a great addition to our practice.

Our Staff

Our staff members have significant experience in the veterinary field. They receive both on-the-job training as well as continuing education through local veterinary societies.

Bridget Burton is one of 3 vet techs here at SWVC. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience as she was an instructor at Penn's School of Vet Med. She also is a dog trainer and does hold classes at SWVC. 

Bethany Sirois is our 2nd vet tech and comes to us by way of Maine. Bethany has been a tech for 5 years and is excellent at her job. She has a vibrant personality and is a great asset here at SWVC.

Honore Gallant is our 3rd vt tech and the newest. She passed her national boards in June. She went to Holyoke Community College for vet tech. She also is a great addition to our staff.

Danise Albanese, Amy Gambardella, Nikki Fouteau and Deb Sheahan are our receptionists. Danise is our fulltime receptionist and Amy, Nikki , Deb are our part-timers.

Dale Werkhoven is our practice manager. He did computer work for many years before coming to work for his wife. He does many things behind the scenes to keep our practice running smoothly.
